The Project consists of granted tenement EL 25354 located 10 kilometres north of the operating OM Holdings Bootu Creek manganese mine and some 110 kilometres north of Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory.
The Project tenement covers 78 square kilometres of ground along strike from the Bootu Creek mine within the same geological-structural corridor.
The OM (Manganese) Limited (a wholly owned subsidiary of OM Holdings Limited), Bootu Creek open cut mining operation is located approximately 20 kilometres east of the Stuart Highway and 50 kilometres east of the Alice Springs railway line.
During the third quarter of 2007 Brumby undertook a regional and geological evaluation of the Bootu Creek and Renner Springs manganese province. This evaluation defined 18 Landsat targets prospective for manganese mineralisation within Brumby’s Licence area.
A follow up Helicopter supported Electro-Magnetic (HEM) survey was completed in November 2007 and initial interpretation of the data delineated seven conductors, which in some cases were located adjacent to a number of the previously defined Landsat targets. The final interpretation of the data indicates that the conductors are up to 1.3 kilometres in length, are stratiform and occur at an approximate depth from surface of between 20 and 40 metres. Refer to Figure.
Regional Project Mapping was carried out over the area during April 2008. The Bootu Creek Formation as mapped comprises thinly bedded sandstone, siltstone and silicified dolomitic rocks (locally stromatolitic). Similar rock types host the Bootu Creek manganese deposits located ten kilometres to the south.
Brumby is currently continuing the process of preparing documentation to obtain statutory approvals and complete the heritage survey over the Bootu Creek North seven target zones.
